Life has its strange moments - moments when you don’t know ho to react.

Two weeks ago one of the women from church came over to re-attach our front screen door closer (John had pulled the screws out by forcing the door too far around).

We had a light bulb that needed replaced in the light over the table - so she volunteered to do that. She decided to wash the globe and in the course of doing that it broke. She said she thought she had one at home so 2 fays later she came with a better globe than we had. The old one was entirely frosted but the one she brought is frosted only on the sides with clear glass underneath - so it makes better lighting.

While she was here she noticed we had a dryer but no washer. A couple of days later she showed up with a washing machine she bought at a yard sale. She tried to get the thing all hooked up and working but ran into problems so she left. Later that day she and her husband came and tried to get it hooked up.

It turned out that the house drain was plugged and the water ran out instead on the floor. That turned out to be a mop job.

So they left and returned the next day with a hand-operated Roto-Rooter and some other drain opening device. The plug was like concrete but finally it let loose.

So then she tried to wash a trial load - but it would not completely cycle, Turned out the washer needed a new belt or something.

So yesterday here she came again. This time she had a brand new Maytag. So I helped her wheel it in and the old one out and onto the trailer. Today my abdominal muscles are killing me because I haven’t been doing anything that physical.

So now we don’t have to load the car and go to the launder mat anymore.

What gets me is all that she went through in order to do a good deed for us. God only knows how much money she spent doing all this. And it seems everyone at this church is like that.

It is somehow very humbling. I made sure she knew how grateful we are and I want everyone here to hear of her kindness. Her name is Linda. God bless her.
