It saddens me to see what we modern Christians think of as a leader.  It's as if someone disconnected our spiritual gifts and we're unable to distinguish the leaders God chose from the ones man chooses. We tend to see their physical appearance, the political positions they take, the letters before or after their names, the titles on their resumes, and their ability to please everyone as the chief qualifications of a Christian leader. We're surprised and upset when these people lead us over a cliff, even though we led ourselves there by using worldly standards to choose a Spiritual leader. This article is all about who God says we're to follow and who's responsibility it is to make sure we're following the right leader.
The Title Means Nothing: We've all heard it! He's a "this" or she's a "that!" Title, education, political position, even looks are all meaningless. Oh, but what if he's...

THANK YOU -- for the JOY of finding a safe haven for the heart,
where people can be REAL in un-real world and may the God of Abraham
BLESS THIS WORK, to HIS GLORY..

Ty -- for taking the time to write such honest and insightful 'articles'
it's sooooooooooooooooooooo REFRESHING to know that I am not alone
in my thoughts and my feelings.......

I am learning, through experience that The Bible is THE TRUTH...

I have NO desire to condemn anyone, BUT I have also
come to the realization that people aren't what they proclaim
themselves to be SIMPLY because the titles tell us so..

It wasn't until after I came to faith, that I could KNOW Christ's
authentic nature without the assistance of someone behind a pulpit,
by studying the Word Of Truth for myself!!!
Glory To God,, we do not have to be captives of all those letters and
titles at the end of a persons name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As the world, however is!!
I no longer am, I am not a respecter of person's because of the power of God
I do not see things the way the world sees nor as my flesh would.
By that same power, which is THE TRUTH, I am being set free from the false thinking
that because someone says they are a Christian, they are.
I couldn't be more saddened about the reality of that statement,,
but until a person has submitted themselves to Christ as THE LORD
they will be duplicitis and as doves we are easy bate. We trust those who have
not warranted our trust and then we may be guilt stricken if we even question someones
motive or intent.

BUT I will say God doesn't leave His Sheep to the wolves,,
I've known personally -- people who saw regular church goers and in my own case
as a simple minded teen-ager a pastor who was GREATLY ADORED, but by God's Spirit
I KNEW that something was amiss .. In my case I was ostracized for my honesty,
(my inability to make a real confession of faith, when I didn't FULLY believe.)
But five years later the pastor
who I went to an elder about, was convicted of molestation. NO!!! I wasn't given specifics
about what he'd done, but I just 'sensed', he was lying, probably stealing, he was doing that
as well, but it TORE that congregation apart and those that were 'following' that man, FELL
TO PIECES. I however was not surprised and I would rather have faced their disapproval even
before I'd came to a TRUE DEEP FAITH IN GOD, then to have denied and hidden what I felt.

I believe that the two issues you've written on, which I read -
REAL FELLOWSHIP & Ident. TRUE Christian Leaders are inner connected.
It's said that water reaches it's level. Well how can a congregation exceed
the people that they accept as being the authority, being the "closer representation"
of what God is like and what He desires and requires of us??

It's about being REAL, if you take that word and really think about it --
GOD IS REAL he doesn't have any ability to be deceived nor to be deceptive --
that on the other hand is what makes Satan and our own fallen nature so wicked.
The ability to hide the truth, from others and even ourselves.
What if people had to wear a sign that declared what was really going on in their heart??
Hmm... Scary thought isn't it?? That our true thoughts would be revealed without us ever
having to say a thing or even make a facial expression.
NOTE: THEY ARE OPEN TO GOD!!!!!!!!!!
However we'd know who to STAY clear of.

FEAR OF MAN BRINGS A SNARE and ONLY GOD KNOWS HOW GREAT THAT SNARE IS
and how many well meaning, well intended believers
are TRAPPED in it and because there is not an example
in Leadership, they don't even know they are BOUND by it,
let alone how to escape. Because it's become ok to use the worlds p's and q's when
it comes to identifying christian leaders.

As for myself in all of this, as if I were to take on the burden of all the brokenness,
I'd LOSE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ohmy.gif
I TRUST GOD IS AT THE HELM, no matter how much people want to believe they are..
I am not out to change the world, I am out to be the person God Created Me to Be
FOR HIMSELF. And I've had to face and accept that not everyone will like me,,
BUT GOD IS REALLY ALL THAT MATTERS AND HIS LOVE IS THE GENUINE ARTICLE.
He is the SOLE judge and HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON FOR US --
GLORY TO GOD!!!!

I look at it sort like this --
christian's can be hypocritical -- CHRIST IS NOT !!!!!!
the body is broken (The Church) ------ THE HEAD IS NOT!!!
Which IS CHRIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GLORY TO GOD
that even in the times we can't turn to the body because it's fractured and
therefore not functioning properly and effectively
THE HEAD of whom we are ALL UNDER is ALIVE AND WELL
and He is the one who is in all things and fills all things..
It's WONDERFUL when the body is healthy and operating as it ought to be,
but isn't a relief to know that no matter how far it grows out of allignment
CHRIST WILL NEVER FAIL!!!!!

Draw Strength From God and you will have LOVE enough to give to people -- d-light --

Thanks for your thoughts on Christian leadership, Glen.

I believe we need more authentic leaders who are accessible and "the real deal." It is easy for us to hide behind our roles or to pretend to be someone we are not. Jesus modeled honest, genuine connections with those who followed him.

Jesus also knew the importance of time with the Father and time with his closest friends in order to recharge and renew. Although he gave intensely of himself, he also spent time in solitude. When questioned by critics he said he only did what he saw his Father doing. We also need to spend adequate time with our Heavenly Father if we are going to lead like Jesus - with authority, authenticity, and self-giving love.
