Acts 7:9-12 King James Version (KJV)
9 And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
10 And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
11 Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.
12 But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.

Acts 7:9-12 Amplified Bible (AMP)

9 “The [ten elder] patriarchs, overwhelmed with jealousy, sold [their younger brother] Joseph into [slavery in] Egypt; but God was with him, 10 and He rescued him from all his suffering, and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and he made Joseph governor over Egypt and over his entire household.
11 “Now a famine came over all Egypt and Canaan, bringing great distress and our fathers could not find food [for their households and livestock]. 12 But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent our fathers there the first time.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

9 Joseph was the favorite child of Jacob but this was not reason for them to do wrong against him but it was part of the Lord’s plan. The Lord loves us equally but those of us who accept Him as our Savior become favored. God was Joseph as a slave as he was in prison and saw him to a throne.

10 Egypt would learn about his wisdom and how he could read dreams. Those around were often times blessed though he was at the lowest of places this would later find him favor, the favor in prison allowed him to talk to the other prisoners which lead to him be called by Pharaoh and before that the favor with his master allowed him to be put in charge of his masters house which was ended up leading him to prison because of the masters wife trying to seduce him, which was all part of God’s plan. God has a plan if we follow Him and He is there with us thru it.

11 Famines were common at that area and those times. Abraham had to deal with a famine and went to Egypt because of it. Egypt often times did not suffer during times of famine but they did not this time because of God being with Joseph and showing him what to do.

12 The ten sons were the ones to go out, Benjamin and Jacob stayed behind along with the women and kids. They were to bring back food a simply task but God had a plan with this a big plan that ended with the Exodus.
