Acts 7:51-53 King James Version (KJV)
51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.

Acts 7:51-53 Amplified Bible (AMP)

51 “You stiff-necked and stubborn people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you are always actively resisting the Holy Spirit. You are doing just as your fathers did.52 Which one of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who proclaimed beforehand the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become;53 you who received the law as ordained and delivered to you by angels, and yet you did not obey it!”

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

51 They were call stubborn by Stephen mentioning uncircumcised would have angered them even more then him calling them stiff necks it is possible that they may not have even heard him say hearts and ears. Now he tells the truth about the history of Israel that fact that they rejected God again and again, this was not something that was brought up but something they knew.

52 The Prophets were hated most were killed all were persecuted; Elijah who did not die was persecuted to where he wanted death. They killed Isaiah who predicted the coming of Jesus. Israel even tried at to overthrow to leadership of Moses at one point. He then claims Jesus as the Christ because they had him killed. He was in this court because of him proclaiming Jesus but this does not stop him from preaching Jesus.

53 Now he claims that they have broken the law, which all have broke the law but they could not see past the law to see their need for a Savior.

To be persecuted is to follow after Christ.
