Acts 7:57-60 King James Version (KJV)
57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.
59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Acts 7:57-60 Amplified Bible (AMP)

57 But they shouted with loud voices, and covered their ears and together rushed at him [considering him guilty of blasphemy]. 58 Then they drove him out of the city and began stoning him; and the witnesses placed their outer robes at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 They continued stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said, “Lord Jesus, receive and accept and welcome my spirit!”60 Then falling on his knees [in worship], he cried out loudly, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them [do not charge them]!” When he had said this, he fell asleep [in death].

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

57 The people were not willing to listen, Stephen having a heart for the Lord would have loved to be used to bring this entire group to the Lord. These men were so anger and turned against the truth and were full of hate. This is the way the world often reacts to the truth they harden their hearts.

58 This was common way of capital punishment for them, they killed Him for preaching Jesus this is what He died for preaching Jesus. They took him out the city because doing within the city would have made the city unclean but what they could not see was their hearts were unclean. Saul would be one that would do great harm to the church but after Christ won him to faith would do more then most Christians ever would come close to even doing. Christ would use Saul to help grow the faith in ways never happened before.

59-60 Stephen was not depressed about his fate for Christ, He was not focused on what was happening but still a heart for the crowd that was killing him and hoping they would turn to Jesus and accept the truth. Do we focus on Christ or the crowd? Stephen wanted Jesus to give him the strength that in his last breath he still gave glory to Christ.
