Ezra 7:1-6 King James Version (KJV)
7 Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,
2 The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,
3 The son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,
4 The son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,
5 The son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest:
6 This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.

Ezra Journeys from Babylon to Jerusalem

7 Now after this, in the reign of Artaxerxes I [son of Ahasuerus (Xerxes)] king of Persia, Ezra the son (descendant) of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah, 2 the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub, 3 the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth, 4 the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki, 5 the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest— 6 this Ezra went up from Babylon. He was a scribe skilled in the Law (the five books) of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given; and the king granted him everything that he asked, for the hand of the LORD his God was on him.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

1 These verses show Erza’s lineage. Ezra was sent by the king because he was his cupbearer and was trusted but was sent by God because of his heart and who he was.

2-5 We see that he is in the line of the high priests which meant that the temple was where he served and he could go into the holy of holies. God chooses us because who we are as Christians we are chosen because we are Christ’s.

6 Ezra was a scribe this could be most likely because he wanted to serve but didn’t have the temple to serve at anymore. When we have a heart of service God will honor that if we wait for Him to lead. So now by the king’s hand the Lord has opened the door for the temple to be rebuilt.
