Having attended dozens of churches in at least a dozen denominations, having a degree with honors in Ministerial Studies, and having conversed with dedicated Christians from hundreds of different churches and denominations, my concerns for those calling themselves Christian boil down to very few issues, all involving loyalty.
Most Christians are less concerned about loyalty to Christ and His mission than they are about loyalty to a church or denomination.
Most Christians are less concerned about loyalty to Christ and His mission than they are to their favorite Christian celebrity.
Most Christians are less concerned about loyalty to Christ and His mission than they are to certain "Christian" political positions.
Most Christians are more loyal to the Pharisees' practice of judging of others than they are to Jesus, who said to judge yourself.
Most Christians are more loyal to Christian fiction and devotional commentaries than God's Word in the Bible.
It's as though we're all carrying the banners of denominations, celebrities and politicians instead of carrying the cross. Jesus said to pick up our crosses and follow Him. He said for us to love each other, our neighbors and our enemies. There are no denominations, no celebrities, no politicians, no Pharisees, no countries, no religions, and no ethnic groups in the Christian world. There are only those who have found the love of Christ and those we're trying to reach with His love. Until we are loyal to Christ and His mission, all of our other causes will fail.
