Acts 7:1-4 King James Version (KJV)
7 Then said the high priest, Are these things so?
2 And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
3 And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.
4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.

Stephen’s Defense
7 Now the high priest asked [Stephen], “Are these charges true?”
2 And he answered, “Brothers and fathers, listen to me! The God of glory [the Shekinah, the radiance of God] appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran, 3 and He said to him, ‘LEAVE YOUR COUNTRY AND YOUR RELATIVES, AND COME TO THE LAND THAT I WILL SHOW YOU.’ 4 Then he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. And from there, after his father died, God sent him to this country in which you now live.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

1 This was actually something that should have been asked but they had witnesses that lied against him, his credit was not strong in their eyes because of this but God was with him thru this. We may have to answer to the lies people say against us and we are to trust in the Lord to get us thru them.

2 God chose Abram before there was Jew and Gentile; God picked Abram to bless because Abram followed after the Lord. God spoke to Abram but Abram listened to God. We often times do not hear God’s message because we do not listen.

3 This was an act that took full faith, to be lead by God into a place that he knew not to a place he did not know where it was. Often times this is how the Lord leads, step by step. We do not know where journey are will end but we sometimes may know the next step the Lord leads us to. Abram had to leave everything to follow the Lord. Are we willing to do the same? If we have Him first in our life then we should be able to.

4 God wants us to take care of our family; Abram did leave but had to take care of his father before he moved into the new land. God blesses us with family and expects us to spend time with them and care for them but they should never come before the Lord Himself.
