Acts 5:1-6 King James Version (KJV)
5 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

Acts 5:1-6Amplified Bible (AMP)

5 But a certain man named Ananias with his wife Sapphira sold a piece of property,
2 And with his wife’s knowledge and connivance he kept back and wrongfully appropriated some of the proceeds, bringing only a part and putting it at the feet of the apostles.
3 But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart that you should lie to and attempt to deceive the Holy Spirit, and should [in violation of your promise] withdraw secretly and appropriate to your own use part of the price from the sale of the land?
4 As long as it remained unsold, was it not still your own? And [even] after it was sold, was not [the money] at your disposal and under your control? Why then, is it that you have proposed and purposed in your heart to do this thing? [How could you have the heart to do such a deed?] You have not [simply] lied to men [playing false and showing yourself utterly deceitful] but to God.
5 Upon hearing these words, Ananias fell down and died. And great dread and terror took possession of all who heard of it.
6 And the young men arose and wrapped up [the body] and carried it out and buried it.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

1 This was done by everyone but is was their option to do so they were not forced to be it allowed them to be fully committed to the spread of the gospel and to the Lord.

2 They brought a part of what they had to the apostles, they were not willing to give up everything they had to follow the Lord, and the little they did not give up was something the put before the Lord because they wanted it for themselves instead of trusting Him with it.

3 Peter was given this information form God. God knows everything we do even when no one else knows. We can not hide anything from God and He knows our heart and knows our true motives. Sin is something Satan wants us to do and is never from God.

4 It was no longer his once he chose to give it to the Lord. When we give something to the Lord we are no longer to keep it. We are to fully submit to Him and not let anything come between us and God.

5 He died God judgment came upon him, the Lord does not like it when we lie to Him and sometimes He may react, this was not an attack on him from Satan but is was God’s judgment on him.

6 They buried him, they treated still as brother by doing this but they did not wonder what happened or questioned God, we should never question God about others because we do not know the whole story with them.
