I have strayed from the Lord and i am struggling with a gay porn addiction. I really do not know how it started and it has been nourished for the past 5 years. This year was supposed to be it for me but I have continue to struggle it is August. I want to change and I am 100% million times serious about it. I am in a realtionship and I can not think of what it would do to that if she found out. Please pray for me for the strenght to remember to read my daily bread when i wake up. unsure.gif

Hi! I'm actually very excited for you because you have faced the problem, know what's at stake, and you're seeking help. Let's start with the fact that this issue didn't develop overnight and it will not go away overnight. Though I don't encourage them and have been fighting them for more than 20 years, I have bad sexual fantasies pop into my head fairly often.

There's an old saying that applies to this. You can't keep a bird from landing on your head but you can keep him from building a nest. The battle we face is in out minds. It's no accident that Romans 12:1 is right next to 12:2...we present our bodies as living sacrifices by renewing our minds. Every time a bad thought enters your head, ask Jesus for help to replace it with a good thought. Once he gets the idea he's pushing you to Jesus rather than away, the devil will reduce his temptations in this area. If you nurse the bad thoughts, though, or worse, take action on them, you are giving them strength. Eventually, your mind will be filled with good thoughts and praises for Jesus. Any bad thoughts that come your way will be easily dismissed. I hope this helps!

Thank you Glen for ue reply. I didn't think I would be able to spiritually connect with this issue (if that makes sense). I normally feel more of a connection with the person I pray for when I can relate to an issue, and I can def. relate to temptation. So here is my prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,
I know that we are all not perfect but we all want to please You Lord. We all want to achieve the goal of worshipping and praising You with the purest of thoughts and hearts. I ask that You help this person to clense themselves wholley of the temptation to view (or want) gay pornography in thier lives or minds. There in nothing better than to feel Your love replaced by a temptation Lord. I know how good it feels to lay down a burden after carrying it for so long. Please Lord let this person know, that yes, it will take time. It will not be an overnight thing, but don't give up!! Never give up hope in himself or in You! The enemy will be there with everything bad and sinful, but You Lord will be there holding up goodness and what is right. Thank You Lord for sending this person to us for prayer, just one more soul that needs mending. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

My name is Linda and I've read your prayer request. You will be in my prayers. The Lord is your strength and we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us. This is certainly something that Christ wants you to overcome and have victory over, so He will give you the strength to do it.

Amen to all the responses from Glen and everyone else. I really couldn't have said it better.

One thing I'm actually wondering about is which came first, i.e., the addiction problem or the straying from the Lord. Sometimes we erect high places where we don't allow God. These can become our god and then we build walls around it. My pastor gave an excellent sermon yesterday called "The Wall" and it was all about how Jesus can tear down our walls that we've built if we ask Him and allow Him to. In Ephesians, we read that Jesus is our peace Who has broken down every wall we've put up. Isaiah 49:16 says, "See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before Me." The Lord Jesus has, literally, engraved you on the palms of His hands and He sees your walls, but He hasn't stopped loving you and hasn't left you. Reach out to Him and give yourself to Him. That is what my pastor suggested that I should do and it's really helped.

Jesus recommends that to avoid sin we cut off our hands and pluck out our eyes. This advice is given immediately after he says that anyone who looks with lust at any women commits adultery.

Perhaps more than anything else, devil has succeeded in twisting and perverting sex. He has taken what is good and right (loving sex between a husband and wife) and replaced it with lust, pornography, adultery, rape, and homosexuality. Pornography is simply the first step on a very slippery slope of ever-increasing wickedness and immorality (Romans 6:19). Just as a drug user is led to consume greater and more powerful quantities of drugs, so pornography drags a person into hard-core sexual addictions and ungodly desires.

The three main categories of sin are: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 2:16). Pornography definitely causes us to lust after flesh, and it undeniably is a lust for our eyes. Pornography definitely does not qualify as one of the things we are to think about, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things” (Philippians 4:8). Pornography is addictive (1 Corinthians 6:12; 2 Peter 2:19), destructive (Proverbs 6:25-28; Ezekiel 20:30; Ephesians 4:19), and leads to ever-increasing wickedness (Romans 6:19). Lusting after other people in our minds (the essence of pornography) is offensive to God (Matthew 5:28). When habitual devotion to pornography characterizes a person’s being, that demonstrates the person is not saved (1 Corinthians 6:9).Thanks be to God - He can and will give the victory. Are you involved with pornography and desire freedom from it? Here are some steps to victory: (1) Confess your sin to God (1 John 1:9). (2) Pray for God to cleanse, renew, and transform your mind (Romans 12:2). (3) Ask God to fill your mind with Philippians 4:8. (4) Learn to possess your body in holiness (1 Thessalonians 4:3-4). (5) Understand the proper meaning of sex and rely on your spouse to meet that need alone (1 Corinthians 7:1-5). (6) Realize that if you walk in the Spirit, you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). (7) Take practical steps to reduce your exposure to graphic images (i.e. install pornography blockers on your computer, limit television and video usage, find another Christian who will pray for you and help keep you accountable—your spouse, if you are married).

if you have a computer get rid of it ,you have friends that do it get rid of them,any thing that gets you to the porno music get rid of it movies queer as folk rather loose that them loose your spouce your children you soul in hell forever,thats the only way.

Thank you for jumping right in to the site and starting to try to help people, especially given what you're going through right now. That's what we're here for. Sometimes it's easy to misunderstand what someone writes as criticism or condemnation rather than an attempt to help. So, I want to offer a little coaching on how to approach people seeking prayer and help.
The best example I can find is Jesus, who was always loving, forgiving and kind to anyone seeking His help. For instance, He just forgave the woman caught in adultery even though she didn't ask. Can you imagine the trust it took for mavoro to reveal his sin problem to a bunch of stranger on the Internet? We are greatly honored and humbled by his trust. We are also deeply indebted to Jesus for His forgiveness of our sin.

Though each has different symptoms, we all suffer from the same condition...sin.

We want to approach each person who comes here with loving encouragement. Can you see how the tone of your comments could be misunderstood by someone who has just revealed and asked prayer for a personally embarrassing flaw of his? I know your motivation was to help him, but it may have come across differently. Let me encourage you to continue to help people here, but by looking deeper than what Jesus said to how Jesus behaved, as a model for helping people.
