I think to myself ... pray, and ask for faith to conquer this ....funny how she asks"how can you just stop,0,after all those years ?" I say,hmm ............ I do go to meetings ....in my own way with the best consouler you could ever have ....my friends are accepting me now and supporting me ... in fact my best friend offered to just stop with me .......... so,I feel great .. its day 10 .... have taken care of so much stuff lately and more to come .....motivation is there .... lost a little bit of weight, not that Im really over but beer sure does take its toll .........Im a new person ....well,actually same but with out the emotional bottle influenced wreck ........ yes ....... my son is happy .....thank you so much for the support ..Ill be back ...and praise to Jesus Christ! Congratulations! God is helping you, but it's your commitment and willingness to believe in Him that's making you open to His help. About meetings...AA is a great way to get support, accountability and encouragement in your sobriety. If you get to a place where drinking becomes a temptation again, please find a good group of AA meetings to attend. The power of the 12 steps, however, rests in God, which AA unashamedly proclaimed, early on. In the interest of being politically correct, many have replaced the name "God" with "higher power." Funny, the sobriety rate went from 75% in the beginning to about 10-25% now. If you do decide to go to meetings, make sure to find ones that aren't afraid to give credit to God and to seek His help. Keep up the good work...and faith!

wow ... talk about power .... just as I read your reply,I got an email from a record label I have been working with ....interesting ....on another note ...Im not opposed to go sit in a meeting and see what it is about ...I do not understand either why people say higher power as oppsed to saying GOD . makes no sense ...I have a friend that has gone from one extreme to another .. he is now very much into his church,GOD,faith and such ... I have talked to him about this .. he offered to take me to his meetings ...thats something I would be willing to try ...just to see ....as far as temptation, well none yet .... and I would like to keep it that way .... the days of going overboard are now behind me ....my mind is so much clearer .....my faith is stronger than it has ever been ............talk to you soon !!

Hi ajbs.

Glad to hear of your progress. There will be some rough times you will go through, but stay strong. Be committed to your decision and stick with it.

This is a verse that stops me from smoking again even when I feel like one.

1 Corinthians 6:19 - 20 (NKJV) "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."

I know what it is like to feel down, but there are ways to keep going. I just think, one day we have heaven to look forwards to, no more feeling down then. In fact, I think feeling happy will be quite mild to what we will have in heaven.

Meanwhile, we can praise our Lord Jesus Christ for saving us from eternal destruction, misery and pain. We will win the victory through Him. Any victory, we can do anything through Christ which strengthens us.
