biggrin.gif Hi Everyone! I am a new Christian; I was saved about three months ago. Its been wonderful, but sometimes I feel like my emotions/flesh get in the way! Sometimes I feel down and like I don't have enough of God in me. What should I do when that inevitable rollercoater of emotions that the flesh brings upon comes? What have other people's experiences been?

Sheena -

EVERY Christian goes through this. The thing is that our fleshly bodies have cycles - depending on how active we are, how much we eat, what we eat, the temperature, stress, how much rest we get, etc. So, sometimes we're up and sometimes we're down.

This is not anything to be overly concerned about because He Who created flesh fully understands that we go through these cycles.

Being a new Christian, Satan and his crew will harass you, bring temptations into your field of view, get into your thoughts are try to stir up passions such as anger, etc.

Pray up. First thing when you get up each day, praise God that you are able to do so. Thank the Lord for all the good things - which are many in spite of all the bad things. Make your last thought before falling asleep be thankfulness to the Lord. During the day, if you see anyone in need, help them. If you cannot do anything for them, remember you can at least pray for them.

What you will be doing by all of this is building a relationship with the Lord.

God Bless.

Shalom.

Dear Sheena,
Let me first of all say, welcome to the body of believers... You have take the right path to eternal life. Please be encouraged, what you are passing through happens to all believers both those that are new in the faith and those of us who have been saved for more than 10 years.. Do not be fooled to believe that once you have become born again, you will automatically become a saint doing and knowing no evil.. Immediately you give your life to Christ, that is when the real work begins. As long as we are still in this flesh, we will continually sin because the old man will continue to fight to take over the new man/new nature. That is why the Lord Jesus Christ has given us his grace in order for us to overcome the temptations that will come our way on a daily basis. As long as you have the Holy Spirit in you, he will convict and make you aware each time you sin so that you are able by the grace of God to confess your sins and be set free..

Our goal as christians is to be be like Christ by striving towards perfection ultimately making heaven at the end of the day. So my dear sister whenever you feel like the flesh is trying to overwhelm you, pray immediately asking God for the strength to overcome. the bible says resist the devil and he will flee from you.. begin to confess the word of God rebuking the devil and commanding him to flee from you, you have the power to do so.. always spend time in studying the word of God and praising him, if possible find good christian books to read, I personally have grown spiritually reading great books and literature from people like Joyce Meyers. When you do all these things, you will see tremendous change in your christian walk. I wish you God's very best in your christian walk.. May the Lord strengthen and see you through.

Shalom
Taykems
