Brian, instead of cursing yourself for not going longer than 2 weeks, congratulate yourself for going two weeks. Then, recommit to God and yourself that you will overcome this addiction. One of the keys to living in recovery is focusing your life on where you're going rather than where you've been. The Lord has set some admirable goals ahead of you. As you walk toward them and focus your energies on them, the other temptations will begin to be more manageable.

Brian,

Here are a few ideas to try to help. Please do not take this as any kind of judgement. Many men have fought against this, and I am one of them.

Sexual desire is one of the most powerful drives I have experienced. It invites obsession. When we experience sexual desires, it seems only right to follow where they lead, but that is wrong.

Sex needs to be tied to a good relationship. Desire finds its best and most satisfying fulfillment within a good marriage. It will be some time before you will have the opportunity for that marriage. So while you wait - here are some ideas.

3 Things you'll need:
- Small Notebook
- Pen/Pencil
- Cross or Picture of Jesus

Implement these steps:
1 Decide how serious you are about breaking the Porn habit. You seem very serious already.
2 Use a small notebook to keep track of when feel the urge to do Porno. Protect that notebook from prying eyes.
3 Write down when the urge begins, and what you were thinking and feeling.
4 Read and think about what you wrote down. What feeling does this fix, lonelyness, love, acceptance, lust? There is one love greater than any, and he is ALWAYS there.
5 Think of what you could do instead of Porno - Sports/Exercise, phone a friend, write the Web-Church, Pray, read the Bible.
6 Try to catch yourself when you get the urge. Stop yourself. Do the alternatives in step 5.
7 Get that support from others. Let them know you are working on the habit. Tell them what they can do to help. You have already started this through the Web-Church. Many people are praying for you.
8 Erase your Tapes, delete your Files, toss your Magazines.
9 Place that Cross/Picture of Jesus near your TV/Computer screen. Do NOT let ANYTHING convince you to move that Cross/Picture. He your hope, your anchor. Trust and accept Jesus's help. He will be the person with you when you need that help, when no one else is around.

Be patient with yourself. Be kind to yourself. Beating yourself up is another bad habit to be broken.

Brian,

I don't think that I can add much to the posts from Glen and Jose', but I just want to encourage you to read the Bible and find all the great men of God who never sinned. Pay particular attention to the part where God just zapped them in their tracks and wiped them off the face of the earth. You know--Abraham, Moses, Peter, David, Paul, Elijah, Noah, Jacob, just to name a few.

You just have to decide which one you want to win, God or the devil. It's a choice. You--and God--win when you get sick enough of the devil winning.

Hope this helps. May God bless and guide you in His paths.

Loving Him,
><Linda>
