Introduction:

I think it was Zig Ziglar who said, "You cannot consistently behave in a way that is inconsistent with your beliefs." Whoever it was, they're right. Think about it! If the police tell you to get out of your house because there's a bomb about to go off…you're outa' there. If one of your friends who plays jokes on you all the time tells you the same thing, you ignore it. It's all based on what you believe.

It's the same with everything we believe. If we believe a lake is contaminated, we won't swim in it or eat fish from it. This principle applies to the things of God, as well. Probably, the reason most people, even most Christian people, don't make a serious effort to understand and apply the things of God to their lives is because no one has gotten through to them how important they are. In this lesson, we're going to look at those things that are essential to faith in Jesus. Without believing these 7 essentials, there is no foundation to our Christianity.

1. One God exists from everlasting to everlasting and expresses Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit:
a. Mk 12:29 "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is ___."
b. Ps 90:2 "Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from ___________ to ___________ you are God."
c. Mt 3:16-17 "At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the ______ of ___ descending like a dove and lighting on him. 17And a voice from heaven said, "This is my ___, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."

2. God inspired man to write the Scriptures (His Word), revealing His loving plan for each of us.
a. II Pe 1:20-21 "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of _________ came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. 21For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but ___ spoke from ___ as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."
b. II Ti 3:16 "All _________ is ___-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for _____ good work."
c. Ro 6:23 "For the _____ of sin is _____, but the ____ of God is eternal ____ in Christ Jesus our Lord."
d. Jn 3:16 "For God so _____ the world that he gave his one and only Son, that ______ believes in him shall not ______ but have eternal life."

3. God created us all in His image and deserves our love and obedience.
a. Ge 1:27 "So God _______ man in his own image, in the _____ of God he created him; ____ and ______ he created them."
b. Mk 12:30 "____ the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength."
c. Jn 14:21 "Whoever has my commands and _____ them, he is the one who loves me…"

4. Through the decision of one man (Adam) sin entered the world, distancing us from God. Since then, we all fall short of God's glory.
a. Ro 5:12 "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through ___ ___, and _____ through sin, and in this way death came to ___ men, because all sinned."
b. Ro 3:23 "For all have sinned and ____ _____ of the _____ of God"

5. Through the sacrificial death and resurrection of one perfect man, we can reconnect with God.
a. I Co 15:3-4 "…Christ ____ for our sins according to the Scriptures…he was buried…he was ______ on the third day…"
b. Ep 2:6 "And God raised __ up ____ Christ and seated us ____ him in the ________ realms in Christ Jesus"
c. Co 1:19-22 "For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to _________ to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making _____ through his blood, shed on the cross. 21Once you were _________ from God and were _______ in your minds because of your ____ behavior. 22But ___ he has reconciled ___ by Christ’s physical body through death to present you ____ in his sight, without _______ and free from __________."
